Why Injuries Respond Well to Chiropractic Care

person with lower back painNo one wants to or ever plans to get injured. Even so injuries happen all the time, in all places, without warning, and sometimes from the strangest or silliest of circumstances. No matter who you are or what you do for work or fun, the simple fact remains that injuries are part of life.

Some of them are relatively minor and some are severe, but all injuries need the proper evaluation and treatment if you’re going to make a complete recovery. And we know that injuries respond well to chiropractic care, no matter your age or activity level, for many reasons.

Common Types of Injuries

Chronic injuries that benefit from chiropractic care usually come from a handful of known areas. They usually stem from overuse from work-related activities, persistent injuries from sports, minor and major auto accidents, or the unaddressed wear and tear injuries that come from our daily lives.

  • Auto Accidents - Whether big and scary or the “minor” fender bender, car accidents cause injury. In fact, whiplash is the best known. This is where the head and neck are whipped in one direction quickly, and then back again.
In research from Peugeot S.A./Renaust Laboratory of Accidentology and Biomechanics, “the risk for whiplash injury is actually greater when below 9.3 MPH compared to speeds above it.” Other research shows that 1 in 3 whiplash injuries also progress to ongoing temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain.
  • Work Injuries - No matter the job, work injuries cover a wide range of both acute and chronic conditions. The most frequently seen are low back pain from long sitting, carpal tunnel syndrome from poor ergonomics, or lifting/falling injuries. All these injuries can respond well to chiropractic care and therapy, which in turn allows you to get back to work without missing much time.
  • Sports Injuries - If you’re an athlete, it’s safe to say that you have your “pet” injury that constantly nags at you and can affect your performance across your life’s activities. Many of these sports-related injuries are from soft tissue traumas like sprains or strains. Sports chiropractic care also helps treat these injuries before they get worse.
  • Wear and Tear Injuries - Everyday wear and tear injuries are becoming more common as our population ages. Years of improper lifting, poor posture, stress, and the force of gravity create damage to our bodies.

As a society, we have taken to the primary treatment of over-the-counter pain relievers. While effective at pain relief in the short term, they leave the causes untreated and persistent. The chiropractors at Summit Spine and Sport Chiropractic provide a great solution to keep your body moving well into your golden years.

Treating the Cause, Not the Symptom

The goal and design of chiropractic care and therapy are to address the underlying causes of your pain. Doing so leads to effectively dealing with injuries, promoting healing, and helping people return to activity. No matter the cause of the pain or loss of motion, the cause can be effectively treated, and the symptoms can go away.
